Your Data

We recognise that information has its greatest value when it is accurate, up to date and accessible where and when it is needed. Inaccurate, outdated or inaccessible information can make it more difficult for us to serve our patients, and for you to receive the treatment you need.
You have a right to expect us to handle your data in a safe and secure manner, and comply with our legal and professional responsibilities — and so, you can find all of our data policies below.

GP Connect – sharing your health information safely

To help you get the right care wherever you are, Whiteacres Medical Centre uses GP Connect.
GP Connect is an NHS system that lets authorised clinicians in other NHS services see relevant information from your GP record when they need it for your care.

What this means for you

  • When you attend an NHS service such as NHS 111, urgent care, out-of-hours, hospital clinics or community services, the clinician can view a read-only summary of your GP record (e.g. medications, allergies, test results and recent consultations).

  • This helps them make safer and quicker decisions and reduces the need to repeat questions or tests.

  • Only registered healthcare professionals involved in your direct care can access this information, and every access is recorded and auditable.

Your privacy

  • GP Connect is operated within the NHS secure network and complies with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • You can read more about how your data is protected in our Practice Privacy Notice.

  • If you have concerns about data sharing, please speak to our team—we can explain how your information is used to support your care.

Pharmacy Consultation Summaries

  • When you are treated through the Community Pharmacy Consultation Service (CPCS), the pharmacist’s consultation summary is automatically sent back to us via GP Connect. This is now active at Whiteacres.

  • This keeps your GP record up to date and avoids duplication of medicines or tests.

To support your care, you may be treated by other healthcare professionals who work with services outside our surgery. When involved directly in your care, it may benefit them to have access to your medical record. This is only done where appropriate and in accordance with local data sharing agreements. Read more about how your GP record may be shared here (DOCX, 21KB)

AccuRx Scribe - AI tool

As part of the Digital First National programme of work, GP Practices are required to record accurate data about patient interaction, especially within consultations.  To assist with this administrative task, the practice is using a new technology known as AccuRX Scribe.
